Thank you for your great insights...you guys rock. Here is another passage for this Sunday.

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable. Hebrews 4.12-13

When I look at this passage, another reason emerges for believing in and applying God's speech to my life. The Bible talks about me. The word is alive...powerful...cuts between the tender tissues of soul and spirit, joint and marrow. I wonder if the inspired writer is saying that the Scriptures dissect not only my spiritual self but the physical...total...comprehensive coverage of the holy spirit in my life through the Bible.

Today I sense this exposition of his discerning work. I feel thankful, connected, near.

Let me know how it goes for you today.

  1. My fear is that the decietfulness of sin would cause my heart to be hardened, preventing His word from reaching my spirit, like hard baked earth refuses to absorb the life giving properties of water.

My prayer is for faith so that His word would be active in me when I hear it and I would be changed. I want to be changed. I want to feel closer to Him, more connected. I am lonesome for Him.

  2. Daily, my body, soul and spirit are humbled, changed... affected by the ever powerful Word of God. It truly IS alive! It goes forth like a rushing wind into the hearts of each of us to accomplish all that God intends it to. "The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous run into it and are saved." My need is constant for God, His Word... His Spirit to speak but my question is what are we doing when we hear His voice. Are we obedient or disobedient because it matters... to Him, to the body of Christ and to non-believers. He is always speaking to us but will we come away as Jesus did... not only to hear God's voice but then to allow The Word to become alive in us and MOVE US into action? People out there are going to hell daily... how will they hear without a preacher? We are ALL called to evangelize. It is not a gift but a command from God. "Oh Lord... Help us to get out of our comfy lives and be bold like Paul was. Baptize us in your Holy Spirit like you did Jesus after He was water baptized that we might have the power to go forth boldly into the world and be "fishers of men." We love you God... speak and we will listen and obey."

  3. I am so grateful for this new "glog." I will be adding some thoughts and resources that pertain to worship arts each week, hopefully earlier in the week than this post. We have a video and a few songs this week that I pray will draw us into the presence of God and help us clear out the noise so we can hear His voice better. Check out this video http://www.sermonspice.com/product/21253/i-am-god and also take a moment to listen to this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Yx4eT7ZxZk to begin to prepare your hearts for worship this Sunday.
